Buying moving boxes can leave you with empties to store, pass along, or recycle after the move. Renting crates gives those containers a scheduled return trip instead.
Geaux Crates uses a return-and-reuse model. Here's how delivery, packing, and pickup fit together.
The loop: three steps
1. We deliver. Crates show up at your door for your scheduled delivery — stacked, with the lids on, dollies and labels included. You don't drive anywhere, you don't assemble anything, you don't fold a single box.
2. You pack and move. Uniform crates and attached lids help organize the job without tape. Follow the crate and dolly manufacturers' handling, loading, and stacking instructions, and keep walkways and exits clear.
3. We pick up. When you're unpacked, the rental crates go back on our truck at the scheduled pickup. You do not need to store or dispose of those rented containers; any other packing materials still need to be reused or disposed of appropriately.
That's the whole model. We bring them, you use them, we take them back.
What returning the crates changes
Start with the obvious: the box-store run. Crates arrive at your door and need no tape to close. Cushioning, paper and mattress protection may still be needed with either option. Our cost comparison separates the cash subtotal from the convenience of delivery, pickup and less assembly; it does not show an automatic cash saving.
Then there is the space taken up by empties. Rental crates leave at pickup instead of becoming long-term storage. The cleanup. Returning them avoids breaking down those containers or taking them to a recycling drop-off. The reuse. The rental model keeps crates in use across moves; the environmental result depends on their working life, transport, and what materials they replace.
No deposit, no games
The loop runs on simple terms: ten packages from 10 crates ($139 first-week rental + $4.15 small-order fee) to 100 crates ($399 first week), one dolly per ten crates, labels included, delivery and pickup included. You pay in full at booking — no deposit — and the first 15 miles of each delivery and pickup trip are included, with a $2/mile distance charge after that. Both addresses need to be within 75 miles of our Houston warehouse. The 10-crate, one-week total is $143.15 before applicable distance charges, tax, and optional supplies. Extra weeks are separate; see the packages page for rates.
Why "and pick up" is the whole point
Anyone can drop off bins. Plenty of companies sell you containers and wave goodbye. The pickup is what makes it a service instead of a purchase — it's the difference between renting a tux and buying one. You get the good version for exactly as long as you need it, and then it's our problem again. That's the deal, and it's a good one.
